Let me take you to my favourite cocktail kitchen in Cape Town – probably SA.
Nestled in the middle of the heartbeat of the V&A Waterfront, Cause | Effect Cocktail Kitchen & Cape Brandy Bar is waiting to completely change how you look at the art of mixology.
This 60-seater gem has inspired their drinks on the absolute unique elements of the Capetonian oceans, mountains, fynbos, and vineyards. Here the raw ingredients add texture, flavour, sensation and dancing tastebuds to every sip and bite.
The service is sultry and energetic, the mixology is a dance of theatrics, and the atmosphere is electric. Every single inch of this space is designed and planned, and each inch is a Insta moment.
THE COCKTAILS:
The menu is designed to take you on a street art walking tour through Cape Town with cocktails that are as amazing in taste as their designated names. Some of my favourites The Rocket, Lara the no drama lama and the drinkatariam #3. Each presentation and garnish and syrup (homemade) are curated and created for you to enjoy only the best flavours of the Cape. Each cocktail has her own flair, finesse and ‘gen ne se quoi’ – enough to keep you coming back for more.
THE BRANDY:
This is the largest collection of Cape brandies all in one place in Cape Town. Bet you did not know that there are so many different brands in the first place did you. Cape Brandies are known for their exceptional taste, ranging from tropical fruits to cooked fruit and spice. And no, you will not just get your glass slid over to you over the bar counter, no-no, the sculptured crystal ice ball travels a through a copper pipe roller coaster to make her way to her final destination – your neat brandy glass of pure bliss. Truly the undiscovered gems of Africa!
I love this place so much, I celebrated my 30th birthday along the bar counter and the night was a joy. We kicked off with punch bowls (not your run of the mill fishbowls with cheap alcohol and pineapple juice) and bubbly, ordered shared platters and sliders (best complimenting flavours to all drinks) and danced the night away. The service and attention to making the evening was unforgettable and I have returned multiple times for more.
