
This tour combines excellent wine tasting with an unforgettable art experience.
Guests will be accompanied to selected wine estates that pride themselves on their exquisite art collections and contemporary art gallery spaces. We will also stop at galleries in Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. Transport and a specialist art guide will be included in this package. The tour will start at 10:00 and will end at 17:00. Lunch can be booked but will be an additional cost to the guest.
Our tours are custom made to fit the interest and taste of the client. This is just an example of a possible Winelands Art Tour. There are many galleries and places of interest that can be included into above mentioned experience. The visit to La Motte can be changed to visiting the Rupert Museum in Stellenbosch on request.
The Manor House at Boschendal has partnered with the Norval Foundation to bring contemporary South African and African art to the winelands through rotating exhibitions curated by the foundation’s talented curatorial team.

IS ART GALLERY
The first stop will be at one of the galleries in Franchhoek, for example: IS ART GALLERY with their wonderful collection curated by Ilse Schermers, EBONY a unique and exclusive design space that showcases the finest in modern South African furniture and art. The EVERARD READ GALLERY and/or DE LEEU COLLECTION with their beautiful selection of paintings and sculptures by prominent South African artists.
GRANDE PROVANCE WINE ESTATE
From there we will make our way to GRANDE PROVANCE WINE ESTATE. The Gallery at Grande Provence is highly regarded as one of the best galleries in the Cape, with a reputation for showcasing some of South Africa’s finest established and emerging artists such as Angus Taylor, Lionel Smit, Irma Stern, J.H. Pierneef and Hugo Naude.
LA MOTTE
The next stop will be at LA MOTTE wine estate. The museum at LA MOTTE is dedicated to the life and art of Jacob Hendrik Pierneef one of South Africa’s great landscape artists. The museum also exhibits curated exhibitions by other distinguished South African artists.
DELAIRE GRAFF
From there we will go to DELAIRE GRAFF wine estate. This estate boasts of a wonderful art collection of prominent artists such as: William Kentridge, Lionel Smith, Dylan Lewis, Deborah Bell and Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi.
TOKARA
TOKARA will be our lunch destination. Guests will be able to choose between the more informal deli at the sculpture garden or have lunch at one of SA’s top 20 restaurants and enjoy the delectable food by Chef Richard Carstens. The TOKARA collection also has beautiful artworks on display by Egon Tanya, Marco Cianfanelli, Conrad Botes, Brett Murray and William Kentridge. After visiting the sculpture garden we will head to Stellenbosch.
SMAC GALLERY
We will stop at SMAC GALLERY. They represent a number of important established and emerging South African artists as well as international artists, in particular artists from the African continent. The gallery is on the first floor of the historic De Wet building in Church Street. They have a reputation for presenting large, museum-quality modern and contemporary exhibitions, accompanied by well researched catalogues, monographs and books.
DYLAN LEWIS STUDIO AND SCULPTURE GARDEN
The last stop will be at the DYLAN LEWIS STUDIO AND SCULPTURE GARDEN. Visiting this internationally acclaimed artist’s studio will be a highlight of the day’s tour. Dylan Lewis is one of the most established artists living in the winelands. He has already had two solo auctions at Christies in London making him one of the most collectable sculptors from South Africa.
